Frequently Asked Questions

Do the composting bins smell bad?

No. When the material begins to compost, it begins to heat up. This heat destroys the bacteria, which is what causes the bad smell in the first place.

Do the worm composting bins smell bad?

No. It is the BACTERIA that the worms love to eat. That is what causes the bad odor.

Do the worms outgrow their space?

No. Worms will grow to their provided space and available food.  So, less room and food means fewer worms. --  Less Worm Tea and Less Worm Castings.

How long does it take to produce fertilizer in a composting bin?

This depends on the temperature outside and the conditions inside the composter, as well as the TYPE of composting bin you purchase.

The heat created inside (which burns the bacteria and breaks down the matter) depends on the kind of material inside, the humidity, the temperature outside, and the oxygen within the composting bin itself. This information will accompany your purchase.
